Vattenfall AB is a Swedish energy company and one of the leading - by its own account the fifth largest - electricity producers in Europe. The name Vattenfall is the Swedish term for the German word "Wasserfall" (waterfall) and is an abbreviation for the original name Kungliga Vattenfallstyrelsen.
